Ivy joined Terrapex in 2024 as a senior environmental risk assessor at Terrapex’s Ottawa office. Ivy brings over 15 yrs of environmental risk assessment experience in the environmental consulting industry. As a senior risk assessor, she mentors junior staff, provides internal technical training, and contributes to the development and improvement of internal technical processes to support the efficient execution of risk assessment projects. She also supports business development initiatives and actively pursue opportunities to expand and strengthen the company’s risk assessment capabilities.

She has completed numerous risk assessments of varying complexity for a wide range of purposes, conducted under Ontario Regulation 153/04 and the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan (FCSAP) framework, in both urban and remote environments across Canada. She is proficient in all components of human health and ecological risk assessments – problem formulation, exposure assessment, toxicity/hazard assessment, risk characterization, and site-specific target level estimate. In addition to her risk assessment work, she is knowledgeable in Phase one and two environmental site assessment. Her expertise also includes data gap analysis and the design of comprehensive site investigation plans that incorporate multiline evidence in support of a detailed quantitative risk assessment. She also has extensive experience collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams in support of major public transit infrastructure projects, applying risk assessment approaches tailored to site-specific construction requirements. She also has experience in deriving risk-based benchmarks through toxicology literature reviews to support regulatory approval processes.

Ms. Liu holds a B.Sc. Honors degree in Environmental Science specialized in environmental toxicology and geochemistry and a M.Sc. degree in Earth Science specialized in environmental toxicology and microbiology from the University of Ottawa. She is a professional geoscientist (P.Geo.) in Ontario and is recognized by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks as a Qualified Person for Risk Assessment (QPRA) under Ontario Regulation 153/04.
